Tongits — More Than a Card Game, It's Part of Who We Are
Ask any Filipino about Tongits and you will see their face light up. This is not just a card game — it is a fixture of Filipino social life. From barangay gatherings and family reunions to quiet afternoons in the neighbourhood, Tongits has been the go-to game for generations. It is fast, strategic, and just the right amount of luck-dependent to keep every hand exciting from the first draw to the last discard.
At 999xcom, we took that love for Tongits and built an online version that respects everything that makes the game special. The pace is authentic, the rules are the standard Filipino Tongits rules your lola taught you, and the competition is real — you are playing against actual people, not bots. The only difference is that you do not need to find three friends willing to sit around a table. Your opponents are always online, the table is always open, and your winnings land directly in your account in Philippine Peso.
Whether you are a seasoned player who has been winning since high school or someone who wants to sharpen their skills before the next family gathering, 999xcom Tongits has a table for you. Low-stakes tables for beginners, mid-range tables for regular players, and high-stakes tables for those who want to really test their game. Pick your level and get started.
What Makes Tongits the Game Filipinos Never Get Tired Of
Sample Hand
Three Aces (set) + 7-8-9 of Diamonds (sequence) = two valid melds. Work on reducing the remaining deadwood.
Tongits is a three-player draw-and-discard card game played with a standard 52-card deck. Each player is dealt 12 cards at the start of the round — except for the dealer, who gets 13. The goal is straightforward in principle but endlessly layered in practice: reduce your hand's point value to zero by forming valid card combinations called melds, and either go out by emptying your hand or have the lowest deadwood count when the central draw pile runs out.
Melds come in two forms: sets (three or more cards of the same rank) and sequences (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit). Once you lay down a meld on the table, other players can add cards to it — a mechanic that creates moments of real tension as you decide whether to expose a strong combination or hold it close. The art of Tongits lies in reading your opponents, managing your deadwood, and knowing exactly when to call.
A round ends in one of three ways: a player declares Tongits by emptying their hand entirely, a player calls Fight (a challenge that forces all players to reveal their remaining deadwood and compares points), or the draw pile runs out and the player with the lowest deadwood wins. Every ending condition involves a different kind of decision-making, which is why Tongits rewards experience without shutting out beginners.
Valid Melds in Tongits — Know What to Build
There are two types of melds in Tongits. Understanding both is the first step to winning at 999xcom.
Three of a Kind
Three cards of the same rank, any suit. Example: three Queens — Queen of Spades, Hearts, Clubs. The minimum valid set in Tongits.
Four of a Kind
All four cards of the same rank. Example: four Aces. Laying down a four-of-a-kind clears deadwood fast and signals a strong position.
Three-Card Run
Three consecutive cards of the same suit. Example: 5-6-7 of Hearts. Ace can be high or low depending on local house rules applied at the table.
Long Run (4+)
Four or more consecutive cards of the same suit. Example: 4-5-6-7-8 of Spades. Clears a lot of deadwood in one move — incredibly powerful mid-hand.
Card Point Values (Deadwood Count)
Unmelded cards remaining in your hand carry deadwood points. The player with the lowest total deadwood wins if a Fight is called or the draw pile runs out.
| Card | Deadwood Points | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ace (A) | 1 | Lowest deadwood value — keep Aces if you can't meld them |
| 2 through 9 | Face Value | 2 = 2 pts, 3 = 3 pts … 9 = 9 pts |
| 10 | 10 | High deadwood — try to meld or discard early |
| Jack (J) | 10 | Face cards all carry 10 points of deadwood |
| Queen (Q) | 10 | High risk to hold unmelded — strong in sets of three |
| King (K) | 10 | Same as other face cards — pairs well in a royal set |

Why Playing Tongits Online at 999xcom Feels Familiar
One thing that distinguishes the Tongits experience at 999xcom from generic online card games is authenticity. We did not try to reinvent Tongits or add unnecessary complications. The rules are the classic Filipino rules. The deal rotation follows the same pattern you know. Melds work exactly the way they should. When you sit down at a 999xcom Tongits table, the game feels immediately familiar — because it is.
The interface is clean and designed to keep your focus on the cards. Your hand is displayed clearly at the bottom of the screen, melds are laid out in front of each player, and the draw pile and discard pile are always visible. On mobile — where most Filipino players access 999xcom — the layout adapts to portrait or landscape without any awkward zooming or scrolling. You can play comfortably on a budget Android phone or the latest iPhone without any difference in experience.
Matchmaking at 999xcom is fast. During peak hours, which tend to be evening and weekends when Filipino players are most active, you will find a three-player table filled in under thirty seconds. Outside peak hours, there is still a steady pool of active players across the different stake levels, so waiting too long for a game is rare. When a third player joins, the deal begins automatically — no host needed, no delays.
Payment and withdrawal are handled entirely in Philippine Peso. You deposit using GCash, Maya, GrabPay, Coins.ph, InstaPay/PESONet, BDO/BPI/UnionBank online banking, or Visa/Mastercard — whatever is most convenient for you — and winnings from Tongits rounds hit your balance the moment a round concludes. Withdrawing back to your GCash or bank account is equally straightforward. There are no unexplained delays, no conversion rates to worry about, and the minimum withdrawal amount is ₱200. It's the kind of frictionless experience that lets you focus on the game rather than the platform.
